So what exactly is the Versatile Blogger Award?

It’s an online award given to new bloggers for encouragement and support, a fantastic way for the blogging community to motivate and push one another towards success. I for one am honoured and definitely feeling encouraged! Recipients of the the Versatile Blogger Award must be nominated by their peers.

If you have been nominated here are the rules:

  • Write and publish a blog post thanking and linking back to the person who nominated you
  • In your post list 7 random facts about yourself
  • Nominate up to 15 other blogs who you follow and believe deserve recognition

So here we goooo, 7 random facts about me:

1.Surpise, surprise: I love beaches

I love hanging around stunning beaches and I am always looking for the perfect spots.
Ocean and salty water were always something which attracted me and inspired me already in my childhood. As a child, I was often sick, and my parents took me for the first time to Italy to get better. I fell in love with the sea immediately.
Since then, I developed a special relationship with the sea.

2. I am from Slovakia and so far I lived in 6 different foreign countries:

– Italy, UK, Russia, The Netherlands, Poland and Germany.

Wait, again not Slovenia 😀 Many people tend to confuse Slovakia with Slovenia, it’s funny  but I wanted to make sure you know 🙂
I left my hometown when I was 18 years old and moved to Milan, where I worked for a modelling agency which was pretty cool but as I wanted to go to University, the best place to do that for me was to move to London where I studied translation and interpreting. Four years of studies included the possibility to do an exchange year and I chose Saint Petersburg. After my degree, I started my carrier in the Netherlands, which gave me the opportunity to move to Warsaw in Poland and later to Germany.

3. I was a professional athlete and a medal winner

When I was about 13 years old I started with athletics. I love this sport and I finished when I was 18. My disciplines were mostly long jump, but I also did high jump, 100 and 200 meters. The biggest achievement was for me winning a first place at the Slovakian long jump national championship (2007/2008).

4. I speak 5 languages

Living in different countries gave me an opportunity to improve my language skills and also learn new ones: English, Russian, German, (Slovak, Czech: my mother tongs)
I did my degree in English and Russian languages with an opportunity to study 2 semesters in the beautiful city of Saint Petersburg, where I met my boyfriend, and now fiancé. After my studies, I started to work for Hollister in the Netherlands, where I asked for the transfer to Warsaw and afterwards to Germany (my fiancé is German).
As I live in Germany I had to learn German to make my life easier here 😀 and with continuous support from my fiancé family, colleagues from work I was able to improve it (still not perfectly fluent but it will just do).

5. I quit my corporate job to travel the world

My last day at Hollister

Three years working in the retail industry made me realise that I need more in my life. Of course, I learned a lot and I enjoyed working as a Store Manager but with each year my passion for travelling became bigger and bigger.
That’s why, I decided to quit my career and go for a long term travel with my partner in crime, my fiancé Nico.

6. I sing

Singing is for now my hobby and I have been singing for the past 4 years, attending private singing classes in order to help me to improve and to be able perform better. I love to sing slower songs, so called Lounge music but pop as well. I don’t really have any favorite bands or singers but for example I love songs from Coldplay and Years ‘n’ Years. You can have a look at some videos: here 🙂

7. We got engaged at the beach in Cuba.

During our holidays in Cuba, we spent one day in Cayo Jutias, one the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. Lying on the shore together, talking about how we met… little waves splashing us gently, beautiful turquoise water and perfect white sand, I got asked: ” Will you marry me?” Absolutely shocked, surprised and happy I said YES.
